About The Band
Since 1946 the Greater Kensington String Band
has been a totally
volunteer organization that participates in the world
famous Mummers Parade on New Year's Day in Philadelphia,
PA. String bands have a unique sound. They consist only
of string (banjos, string basses), reed (accordions,
alto, tenor, baritone, and bass saxophones), and
percussion (drums and bells) instruments.
Greater K can bring
the color, excitement and musical celebration of the Mummers Parade to
you any time of the year. With two first prize finishes under its
belt, We have a performance for every occasion. We've played
wedding receptions, private dinner parties and national conventions.
If there is an event that needs sparkle and sizzle, we'll make it
