You need not travel to Philadelphia on January 1st to witness the most spectacular portion of the world renowned Philadelphia Mummers Parade - the colorfully costumed, banjo-strumming String bands. A long time parade favorite, the Greater Kensington String Band, can bring the excitement, color and musical celebration of the parade to you...any time of the year.

With multiple first prizes under its belt, “Greater K” has a performance for every occasion, big or small. We’ve enlivened such grand events as the 100th anniversary of the Brooklyn Bridge, the opening of the Olympic Training Center in Colorado, the Chinese New Year Parade in Hong Kong, the annual Christmas Parade in Knoxville, Tennessee and the Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest celebration in Ontario, Canada.

But we don’t need the Brooklyn Bridge to do our merry-making. We’ve played wedding receptions, private dinner parties, company anniversaries and national conventions. If there is an event that needs sparkle and sizzle, we’ll make it happen

Our costumed musicians provide the flexibility you need— from a 15 minute grand opening to a two hour fund raiser. We’ve played it all. We can provide foot-tapping music and the good-humored fun your event needs, including a demonstration of the unique Mummer’s Strut. We love to parade and invite inquiries as to availability. We have the right sized group for any occasion.

I had the honor of watching your band play at the Overbrook aquatic center opening on Saturday. My daughter, Amy is 3 and goes to Overbrook. Right before you came onto the playground, she had fallen and hurt herself. As soon as she heard your music, she stopped crying and went over to investigate. She came back to grab my hand so I could watch it with her. It was a wonderful moment for me as a parent! After your set was finished, someone was kind enough to let her explore the drums. She really loved it! Thank you for such a wonderful experience!
