About The Band..

Since 1946 the Greater Kensington String Band has been a totally volunteer organization that participates in the world famous Mummers Parade on New Year's Day in Philadelphia, PA. String bands have a unique sound. They consist only of string (banjos, string basses), reed (accordions, alto, tenor, baritone, and bass saxophones), and percussion (drums and bells) instruments.

Greater Kensington can bring the color, excitement and musical celebration of the Mummers Parade to you any time of the year.  With two first prize finishes under its belt, We have a performance for every occasion.  We've played wedding receptions, private dinner parties and national conventions.  If there is an event that needs sparkle and sizzle, we'll make it happen.
